𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. At first sight, Yu-jin is often described as a warm and compassionate person. As a child, she figured out sooner or later that she was capable of seeing dead people. Through Altair, the god who saved her life, she learned soon enough that these 'hauntings' were not meant to frighten her; they simply sought to communicate, guidance. Through this long experience she developed high empathy and sympathy for those no longer among the living. It even killed the loneliness she was submitted to as a child.Dumbfounded and gullible are two other ways of describing Yu-jin. Naive for she was never shown how horrible the world was as her parents kept their occupations a secret from her; isolating her from the outside world. It was only after her brutal transformation that she figured out how cruel the world can be. Despite all that, she also suffers from immense abandonment issues. Having lived a very lonely life, she fears someone she loves might leave her quite often.Since she became a vampire, Yu-jin has been extremely moody, neurotic and unpredictable. She yearns love and affection like any other human while despising her current state. Yu-jin's often left in a state of contrition when she takes a life to quench a thirst so insatiable and painful. Seeing their spirits follow her only deepens the wound residing within her chest too.To avoid hurting others, she often hides from the outside world. Any killings that follow are done with much despair. But such a state leaves her incredibly vulnerable to any influences; it is only a matter of time to see where her heart will lie.Beside all of the mundane part, she can be kind and compassionate. She's extremely passionate about her passions and finds solace in touch with those she loves. Alongside that, she also knows anger; at the vampire who did this to her, at her parents lying to her, at her brother missing - it all counts up to one big explosion yet to come.

headcanon one. Yu-jin is a professional figure ice skater. During the days she felt the most alone, she would go out to the icerink. From there she would meet a young guy who introduced her to the world of figure ice skating.
headcanon two. Yu-jin was meant to die as a baby. But her parents managed to convince the god of merciful death to grant her a second chance at life; in exchange she would help him guide the spirits to the Underworld and calm them. She's still doing it to this very day.
headcanon three. Yu-jin never figured out that her parents are infamous vampire hunters. She was isolated since she was a child inside of the house for most of the days to avoid being taken by one of the vampires seeking revenge. One of the consequences of isolation became her lack of awareness of the dangers posed to another in the outside world.

ability one. As a medium, Yu-jin is capable of seeing and communicating with dead people. Those who died and haven't moved on can interact with her. While soothing at most, it also means she can communicate with darker spirits, demons, poltergeists et cetera. Considering she's vulnerable in this state, possession is possible. By touch she can make someone else see the spirits as well, but it's not a long-lasting effect.
ability two. As a vampire, after the transformation she possesses a few abilities that include: immortality, inhuman strength && speed, resilience, stamina and immunity to human diseases. She can hypnotize people with her eyes and voice. Sometimes she hears other people's intrusive thoughts.
ability three. After the transformation, it seems her vulnerability to spirits have amplified; emotional and physical wise. Yu-jin is still on the move of finding a healthy balance between both worlds.

She wasn't supposed to live, but here she is; thriving Moon Yu-jin, born 31 October 2000 was the second born child of Moon Beom-seok and his wife Yun Mi-cha, two infamous vampire hunters belonging to the Royal Order of Nocturnal Extermination (a prestigious organization that specializes in the eradication of night creatures such as vampires, werewolves, evil spirits, and more). Having already had two miscarriages before the birth of their firstborn son Moon Dae-ho, they prayed to any god willing to listen to ensure Yu-jin would survive.Fate seemed to think otherwise, for she was born sickly and too early; death was inevitable. As she lay dying strapped to devices, her parents prayed to the gods - hoping to save their child. One god alone answered, an ancient being that represented peaceful death. In their glory, they took pity upon the young child and her sorrowful parents.Before she was allowed to be saved, Beom-seok and Mi-cha would be made aware if the god saved their little one, her fate would be changed. She would become a medium; an individual that would be able to perceive, communicate, and able to interact with spirits.

Perhaps they underestimated that type of power, for it haunted Yu-jin in her years to come. Desperate to save their daughter, they accepted the god's demands. A single touch to her forehead was all it took for every ailment in her frail body to dissipate, filled to the brim with a newfound life and a cry that welcomed life.She became a welcoming addition to the family, finally a daughter for a grieving mother that could not conceive healthy children. But as much joy as she was to them, it became soon clear that Yu-jin's obvious staring into space was not a baby's way of entertaining herself. It was because she saw spirits come by; melancholic and forsaken.Most of these spirits would do no harm, they would mainly wail and complain about the afterlife. About becoming a forgotten soul in a world where life no longer matters; the bridge between the dead and the living. They clung to life, clung to wanting justice for unjustified endings they had met in their lives.

LORE : Spirits and phantoms.

Yu-jin was no ordinary child, and no ordinary child would have a normal childhood. Her days were spent in the comforts of her home. Nannies would be changed every month to avoid suspicion, and both kids were homeschooled. Her parents, driven with paranoia, preferred their children to stay at home under careful watchful eyes. Enemies were made in the dark, creating the perfect targets should these nocturnal enemies retaliate.It unfortunately meant that Yu-jin did not grow up in a home that socialized a lot. Her relationship with her brother Dae-ho grew strong despite the six years they differed. When company was sought, she could always rely on the spirits drifting aimlessly through the home; crying, muttering, or whispering.Her whole life revolved around a strange loneliness and this deep connection to the spirits. While most drifted in and out of existence, some lingered and talked to her. Up till this very day, she can mention three spirits that taught her the basics, the dreams, and the stories long forgotten by humans to even remember.

Her favorite was a gentle spirit who had been unfortunately murdered by a mysterious serial killer. Her name was Mina, a beautiful young lady in her mid-thirties with long chocolate brown locks. At night, she visited little Yu-jin, telling her stories of the 1700s alongside stories about the supernatural.Another spirit she recalls is a man in his late twenties. He was an old soldier who refused to give his true age. But he spoke of war and other horror stories, although gentle in nature, his stories left her thinking about the cruelties of the world. Often scaring her away from the front door that was forbidden terrain.Although the garden was not off limits, the loneliness she experienced severely damaged her social skills. Left her oblivious to the world waiting for her. Missing out on important events such as clubbing, exploring, socializing, and being independent.

LORE : A very lonely life.

IF HER CURRENT life was already isolating enough, it worsened. It was at the very tender age of fifteen that her brother Dae-ho went out and was never seen again. Rebellious in his teenager years, it crushed her parents' spirits. To avoid Yu-jin's possible disappearance by following in her brother's footsteps, her parents made it clear that Dae-ho was never coming back and he was in grave danger. To avoid danger, she would have to stay in the house even longer.And unfortunately, it instilled enough fear in Yu-jin. Her teenage years spent in isolation, finding creative ways to keep her mind occupied. As much as home-schooling offered little socializing, it did nothing further for her to develop properly; mentally at least.It allowed her mind to fester with insecurities, abandonment issues, and a general fear of the world itself. Her days were sometimes spent crying, asking her parents for more, but they never truly gave in.

But as much as she was isolated from the cruel world, the internet was a wonderful place. On the days her parents were out for work, Yu-jin took the liberty to browse the internet. She discovered many things such as music, art, every day life for others by watching their vlogs on YouTube.There it showed a life that was not as scary or evil. Just the every day life of people who were students, workers, or traveled the world. The more she discovered, the more she began to dream about doing these things and be normal. But each time she found herself confident enough to confront her parents, she retreated again.This would go on for a couple of years. Yu-jin's need to break out from the cage of her home and explore the world. Meet people ( despite her lack of socializing ); explore countries, fall in love, go to concerts, she decided it was over ; staying her home all the time.

LORE : Beautiful immortal.

One must know that despite her escape was inevitable, she never could've foreseen it through murder. This mental rebellious phase at least paid off one way or another. At the tender age of eighteen did they allow her to visit an ice skating rink; it was approximately ten minutes away from her home. It quenched her need to rebel for a short time.Yu-jin was monitored tightly, her parents' eyes and that of their peers. But it did little to annoy her when she could enjoy life a little bit on the ice. Clumsy at first, she settled in a weekly routine; always exhilarated the moment her feet could touch ice. Even the cold environment brought her great comfort.But this comfort would not erase her dreams. Other people visited the same ice skating rink, talk to her from time to time, perhaps thought she was a little odd for her lack of social cues. But what was all of that when she finally knew a bit of freedom? a freedom her parents unintentionally further tore open.

You see, the whole reason her parents had isolated their children was questionable at most. But they truly had enemies that lurked at every corner of their vision. One of them remained hidden, his anger like a black smoke fogging his vision.With a lover taken by her parents, he wished to enact revenge. And what better to do it on than their precious daughter? Despite all that, Yu-jin remained oblivious. Even more so when on a night her parents did not monitor her for once, he introduced himself to her.He was so exceptionally beautiful that Yu-jin could not help but fall for his charms. The way he spoke, the way he laughed, the way his touch was gentle despite the chill to it. She remembers his name: Kija, but most likely it was not his real name. For as much as she knew, all of his sweet words could've meant nothing had she known the truth.

LORE : Creature of the night.

WHILE it meant nothing to him, it meant the entire world to her. His seduction was swift and smooth, knew exactly what to say to her and make her keep them a little ''secret''. Yu-jin was in high spirits, in love with the idea of Kija being the first tangible human being that she could talk to, listen to, and even touch.At the tender age of twenty-four, it clocks as the last year of her human life. The closer she got to Kija, the more effective his plan would be. Three days before her death, he slipped a bit of his blood in her drink, enslaving her body to his will. On the second night, she drank his blood again, enslaving her mind to his will. But on the third night, where she drank directly from his wrist, her soul became enslaved to his every whim.With her mind, body and soul now fully belonging to him, he whispered a command in her ear: 'at 1 am, leave the house and find me. Make sure your parents are not aware of you leaving, you'll find me.'

That night, as if bewitched, Yu-jin woke up from her slumber at exact 00:50 am. Enthralled to him, she obeyed his wish by leaving her bed in the middle of the night. The spirits clinging to her warned her of the danger, but it was as if she could not hear them. Only the thrum of her connection to Kija left her to his every whim.And it did, dressed in nothing but her nightwear, she wandered off to a cemetery towards a mausoleum. He awaited her there like a lord of darkness, engulfing her in her arms and whispering sweet nothings in her ear.Never could Yu-jin forget the excruciating pain of his fangs as they punctured her throat. Slowly but painfully draining her of every drop of blood until she barely clung to life. His blood was forced down her throat, forcing her to drink just a tad enough to allow her to change. But only with that in her system, Kija left her for dead in the mausoleum; bleeding to her untimely death until his blood would change her from within. The transformation was anything but painless.

LORE : Freedom into darkness.

It took her 18 hours to wake up from an internal and agonizing transformation. The first time she woke up in the mausoleum, there was nothing worse than a painful thirst. Left alone to rot in a dusty place, she had no idea what had happened to her. But her instincts drove her to kill the thirst in her throat, and unfortunately her first victim was a couple visiting the cemetery.Their deaths were so swift, so unforgiving, so bloody. It immediately filled her with an immense amount of guilt as soon their broken spirits appeared to her. Her parents would not find her until the next day where she hid in the garden, looking out of place, frightened, and oh so hungry.And they knew, they knew what had happened that night they saw her leave the house on the cameras. Parental love and despicable hatred for her kind was a conflict at best; no matter how much she begged for them to help her, they did not relent. Fueled by their aversion against nocturnal creatures, they banished her; wielding their weapons against their own blood daughter. Not even her agonizing cries could stir their hearts back to loving her.

A promise was made that she would find her end if she were ever found again. And so she fled, running away from Incheon towards other cities within South-Korea. Two months have gone by in which she tries her best to understand her new condition.With her maker gone and no one to listen to her, loneliness has once more become her punishment. Now she was free to make a living in the world away from her controlling parents, yet she was forced to stay in the shadows at all times. A new cage, just like her indescribable and agonizing thirst for blood.With no guidance on her new powers or weaknesses, Yu-jin is forced to walk a world alone surrounded by spirits and depravity. She's constantly on the run from hunters while searching for any tangible person sweet enough to give her attention. Unfortunately, it opens up a path towards manipulation; good or bad.One thing is certain, this new life she has, it brings her both joy and sorrow. For she would love to walk in the sun, holding the hand of a lover or friend that see her as a necessity to them; not a burden.
